BEIRUT: Lebanon’s military stated on Wednesday it had exchanged smoke bombs with Israeli troops on the border, the second such incident in every week.
The Lebanese military, in an internet assertion, stated Israeli troops had fired smoke bombs at a Lebanese patrol that was accompanying employees eradicating “infringements” that the military stated had been arrange by the Israelis north of the Blue Line.
Tensions have flared alongside the frontier this summer season, with rockets fired at Israel throughout flare-ups of Israeli-Palestinian violence, and members of the closely armed Lebanese group Hezbollah or its supporters going through off with Israeli forces.
Neither the Israeli navy nor the United Nations peacekeeping power in southern Lebanon instantly responded to Reuters requests for remark.
The present demarcation line between the 2 international locations is named the Blue Line, a frontier mapped by the United Nations that marks the road to which Israeli forces withdrew after they left south Lebanon in 2000.
Lebanese military troops “responded by firing smoke bombs towards enemy troops,” the assertion stated.
It was the second such incident in every week after the troops exchanged tear gasoline and smoke bombs over the same dispute on the Blue Line.
